Who we are
The Accord Coalition is a unique organisation that was launched in September 2008. It brings together a diverse range of voices to campaign for inclusive schools and against religious discrimination.
Accord takes no position on the principle of state-funded faith schools. Its members include those on both sides of that question, but all agree that the most important priority is to ensure that all schools operate inclusive practices for children, parents and teachers.
How your donation will help
The Accord Coalition is able to achieve a great deal on a small budget thanks to the help of its members.
However, in order to continue and expand the work that we do it is vital that those who support our aims also support our work by making a donation.
Since its launch, the Accord Coalition has:
Met with MPs and peers from all mainstream political parties, including ministers and shadow ministers
Produced high quality briefings to inform parliamentary debates
Administered the Accord Award for Inclusive Schools, to highlight good practice
Campaigned for a fairer deal for teachers in Equality Bill
Responded to government consultations on issues such as reform of RE
Reported potential breaches of equality law to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission
Argued against a religious opt-out from teaching full Sex and Relationships Education in the Children, Schools and Families Bill
Investigated the funding of faith schools
Frequently appeared in the media
Welcomed new members, such as the Campaign for State Education and British Muslims for Secular Democracy
Used evidence from those discriminated against to show the need for reform
Attended Labour, Conservative and Lib Dem party conferences and organised fringe meetings
Analysed and collated research evidence on the way that faith schools operate

The best way for you to donate to Accord is by setting up a standing order. A regular gift a few pounds per month is more useful to us than a one off donation because it means that we can plan ahead with a clearer idea of what income to expect.
