As well as working nationally, Accord plans to support local campaigns for inclusive schools. Most of the decisions about whether a particular school will have a religious ethos - and if so whether they promote it through discrimination - are made at a local level. Understandably, local authorities are far more interested in the views of individuals and organisations in the area than in the views of national campaigning organisation. Where you live there are locally based religous groups lobbying for more religious schools and greater freedom to discriminate. It is up to you to make sure that they are not the only voice that gets heard.

Local interest, community and campaignig groups can affiliate to Accord for free. If you are a member of a trade union branch, a campaign against a new faith school or a religious or humanist group please email alex@accordcoalition.org.uk for more information. If you affiliate Accord will be able to send your group information about local and national campaigns and help you link up with other groups in your area. Accord will support campaigns / action which address the issues of discriminatory practices in admissions, employment and curriculum.
